A word about the 7th Tradition.... How far reaching the AA in Anthem AZ website actually is can be demonstrated by how many out of town requests for meeting info from visitors we get. I could show you, but you'd have to see our email, and I'm not going to do that, so take my word on it. Its not a ton, but the word is getting around, thanks to good Google search placement.
The point though, is that most of those stumbling into us are usually looking for ANTHEM meetings, not New River, not Tramonto, not Desert Hills, not Cave Creek / Carefree, etc. So - the meetings in ANTHEM get the "bonus" visitors made of these meeting googlers. So - since we get the "benefit" of these visitors (who are hopefully sticking a couple bucks in the basket) -- shouldn't we pay the lion's share of the cost of the website? Well the entire cost of the hosting package we have (a little over $100 for two years) has been paid by that Saturday Morning Men's meeting, and the "Into Action" group. Is this a plea for $$ from any group that is listed on the site? Hardly - but, if your group (by group conscience) decides / realizes that you are getting new people at your meeting due to being steered there by this site, at least drop us a line and let us know.... and you can chip in a couple bucks in a couple years when it is up for renewal.

A quick review of the Arizona Area Assembly (Nov. 7, 2009)
Saturday morning I had the privilege of attending my 4th Area 03 Assembly as a GSR for my home group. I am on the finance panel, so we met at 730am to approve the budget for the year. The most significant change being this is the first year Area 03 will be fully funding our area delegate to attend the annual general service conference. In the past years we have been sending GSO a partial amount and they have been putting in the difference. In keeping with the 7th Tradition of being fully self supporting, and our delegate being our voice at the GSO this allotment of funds is now a priority.
Then we went on to the fun part; election of Area Officers, Coordinators, and Pacific Regional trustee Nominee. It was truly amazing to see a real democratic process in action. The person elected must receive 2/3 the vote so there is a lot of voting, counting, re-voting, people stepping down etc. Suffice it to say it was a long day, but one we all left feeling like our home group conscience was heard and God was with us all along to lead the way.
I have a million more details I could share, copies of the budgets, service opportunities etc... But I don’t want to get too long winded here. If you have any questions ask away! I’ll freely share what has been given to me.
I’d like to thank my home group for allowing me this incredible opportunity to be of service and enhance my sobriety by leaps and bounds. For trusting me to be their voice on the area level, I am truly humbled and beyond grateful.
